Fridges in a wildtrack

Just a quick question for those with a wildtrack or a hard cover.

What is the biggest sized fridge you can fit underneath the roller cover/ hard cover?

I'm looking at a Waeco either CFX 50 or 65l. Just making sure both will fit undernath with a fridge slide.

I very much doubt you would get a 65L in under the hard cover with it being 561mm tall. The 50L is 471mm tall (I just happened to pick up a Waeco catalogue yesterday). Just grab a tape to measure your clearance but I know the single cab tub I have is only around 500mm from floor to tub top.

Engel 60 and 80L will fit under nice and easy, 40L has no chance way too tall.
Not sure about Waeco brands, check the 40 & 60 heights online and compare them to the ones you want

Damn, I knew I had read somewhere it gets a bit tight. Glad I checked before ordering one.

I'm on site at the moment so can't measure. Waiting on the roller cover to arrive as well. Anyone with a wildtrak or XLT with hardcover able to confirm the tub is the same height as the single cabs pretty please?

I've got an XLT and have bought a roll'n'lock from wolf 4x4. I just want to fit the biggest fridge I can. Prefer to stick with the new Waeco's. Engels are a bit out of my budget and I'm not too impressed with any others for reliability.

The height I gave is only an approximation by the way. I know I measured it but I can't remember the exact figure. It was around 500mm.

Just checking the ford website and it says 511mm as the 'pick up box height at centreline of axle' so 500ish sounds about right.

Just remember the tub liner takes away almost a cm and a bit from the available height. Engel 40 l doesnt fit even with feet off. Waeco cf 40 fits with 2cm spare . Not sure about the new plastic Engels and CFX Waecos.

Hi mate I run an arb 60l on a fridge slide and it fit perfect. Prob have about 20mm clearance to the roller lid

My Waeco CFX 40 with thick Waeco protective cover just fits comfortably in my wildtrak tub without rubbing under the roller shutter. I also have the thick rubber ford accessory mat in the tray. The next size up in Waeco will not even come close to fitting under the roller shutter.

I had the same problem had to go a 60litre ARB fits perfect with a wildtrak roller shutter.

I ended up with the Waeco cfx 50 and it doesn't quite fit by around 5mm. Easy fix, Ill either trim the shutter a little bit or squash the bed liner a little bit. It wont take much to make it fit nicely.

Going off topic a bit but do others have trouble with their fridges cutting out when the vehicle motor is not running due to the OEM battery not having a very high standing voltage once the motor is turned off. I know the fridge is OK as I carry 2 x 130 amp auxillary batteries to use when out bush and the fridge works well on them .

Yeah if your running off the starter battery, they will cut out quite quickly. You don't want to run off the main much if at all without the engine running or you wont be able to start the engine.

Yes thought that might be the case. As my last 3 vehicles have been Landcruisers that come standard with two batteries in parallel , I have never had the problem with the fridge cutting out if just running it for a couple of hours. Looks like the OEM battery will have to get replaced with a bigger amp / hour battery when it packs it in which might not be long the way it is going . It is only 4 months old but struggles to hold anymore than 12.2v after a couple of days of engine not going.

So a CFX75 definitely won't fit? Item description has it at 472mm in height. It's 1mm taller than the CFX50 that some people are claiming fits
The fridge is on sale now and i don't pick up my Wildtrak till the new year

Doesn't it get awfully hot under one of these covers, I don't know why not more people fit a canopy they are so much more versatile and don't get us hot as covers and roller covers and with sliding windows there is always ventilation. My neighbour had a hard cover and I talked him into a canopy, he is so happy with the canopy he would never change back, now he has drawers and a Waeco fridge plus an extra battery to run the fridge, he got an ARB Ascent for over 4k but I have a 3XM for just 2k and it is perfect for me with my dogs, I love it! Anyway just saying, everybody has their own ideas but sometimes Ifeel that people are shunning practicality for the sake of a more "macho" look

My neighbour fitted an extra battery in the tub just for charging the battery!

It does get hot , 70 under the roll top and 82 ( I have measured ) under the black fabric tonneau .
Take 30 off that with flow thru ventilation you can fab yourself in a weekend . It can be as easy as 100 x 50 PVC downpipe and paint it to colour of your choice .

Hi i have 2017 wildtrak just bought waeco cfx 95ltr
The fridge height is 472mm and its dam one big mother of fridge and just slides open. Give 1 or 2mm clearance. The fridge cover is not yet delivered which the top lids will not fit.
Need to cut out liner to fit the cover lids.

Waeco cfx on special now.
Bought mine at My Generator $1369
For cfx 95ltr with free cover and portable waeco cooler and free freight.

Personally should have got cfx75 ltr
The cfx 95ltr takes half the space in the ute.

I am thinking of getting a new Wildtrack, upgrading from my XLT. Has anyone had issues with the fridge performance due to heat under the roller shutter?
